Hau’ula in Hawaiian translates to “red tree.”  Hau is a species of hibiscus tree found typically along the coastlines. The beachside communities of Punalu’u, Hau’ula and La’ie are all within a short distance of each other, and unless you are paying attention, you can easily miss Hauula.

Hau’ula is a small beachside community where residential and commercial land in this area is limited.

Beachfront properties —– Most of the area is unpopulated and lands are within the Hauula Forest Reserve.  Locals enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and, of course, the gorgeous beaches in this area and others nearby.
